Alexx "Skunk" Michael is a glam rocker from Germany who has assembled some hard rock all-stars for a just released album called "Backstreet Anthems", available in North America through Perris Records. We did a short interview with Alexx:

You've managed to compile a large list of celebrity guests. How did you do it?

Eric Singer ( who I know for a while ) came up with the idea that I should record my songs with the right people! He introduced me to Stevie Rachelle and Gilby Clarke. I got in contact with Steve Summers thru the PBF Hotline. He called me back and I did send him the demos. Tracii Guns, Eric Skodis, Brian Tichy and Teddy are real good friends of Gilby Clarke and he introduced us all.

Who was the hardest to get, who was the easiest?

Everybody liked the idea of doing that record. Steve Summers is hard to get on the phone ( ha, ha, ha ) but everybody was really into it!

Was there anyone you wanted but couldn't get?

    Paul Stanley !!!

Any plans to form "Shameless" into a full-fledged band?

Only for the tour. When we play live we will play with B.C., Steve Summers or Stevie Rachelle and a drummer and a second guitar player. We wanna play a few shows next march in Los Angeles while we record the next album, which will be called "Queen 4 A Day". After the recording we wanna play a few shows in Europe in September next year.

How has the response to the CD been?

The fans like it a lot and also the press all over the world was really great. Just the record companies are a pain in the ass. If you don't play techno, grunge or alternative, they don't want you.

What's the glam scene in your part of the world like?

There is no glam scene in Germany. Techno, grunge, alternative and bands like Rammstein or Manowar are big here. Germany is a much too frustrated country to like fun-music. People don't know how to enjoy themselves.

Where do you see the future of glam going? Are there any new glam bands you like?

I hope that the media's of MTV, radio and music magazines will stop to deny Rock n' Roll. There is place for all kinds of rock. Glam reminds people of having a good time and I think that's also today important. Everybody needs fun once in a while. I don't like to much new stuff besides Marilyn Manson ( who isn't glam at all ). I love the classic glam bands like Poison and PBF. Union is a great band too. I still think it's a shame that so less people didn't like Mötley Crüe's "Generation Swine" CD. It might doesn't sound like a typical Mötley album but it still rocks !!!

    Thanks for the interview, Alexx.

    You're welcome !!!
